What is mono-manure digestion?
Mono-manure digestion uses animal manure without adding other organic co-substrates. Microorganisms convert part of the organic material into biogas under anaerobic conditions. The remaining stream is called digestate, connecting energy production directly with further manure processing.
An installation matched to your manure supply
Good design starts with the quantity and composition of the available manure. Daily supply, dry matter, retention time and operating temperature together determine process choices. AWS also considers available space, feed lines, storage and connections to existing operations. Digester, mixing and heating are developed together.
Using biogas: CHP or biomethane
Combined heat and power (CHP) converts biogas into electricity and heat. Part of the heat can maintain the digester temperature. Another route is upgrading biogas to biomethane. The right route depends on factors including gas production, energy demand and available connections.
Digestate processing and RENURE
Following digestion, valuable nutrients remain largely in the digestate. Solid-liquid separation produces a solid and a liquid fraction. Treatment of the liquid fraction can then target nitrogen recovery. Mono-manure digestion can therefore be part of a broader manure processing chain with a route towards RENURE production.
Engineering, construction, maintenance and service from Meurs
AWS combines process knowledge of digestion and manure treatment with the technical expertise of Meurs Technisch Ingenieursbureau. Activities are organised and carried out from Meurs. Process development, detailed engineering and maintenance requirements can therefore be coordinated from the outset.
What information do we need?
Daily manure volume, livestock type, manure composition and existing storage are key starting points. Electricity and heat demand, available space and desired manure treatment also matter. These allow us to define the process route and next steps for your situation.
